Samsung Electronics is reportedly considering exiting its television and home appliance sales business in China, as it shifts focus toward more profitable markets such as the United States.
According to reports, the company may make a final decision as early as this month, with plans to phase out sales operations in China by the end of the year. The move comes amid intensifying competition from domestic Chinese brands, which have gained ground by offering lower prices while improving product quality.
Despite the potential withdrawal from local sales, Samsung is expected to maintain its manufacturing presence in China. Existing facilities would continue producing appliances like refrigerators, washing machines, and air conditioners, primarily for export to global markets.
The shift reflects broader structural changes in the global electronics market, where local competitors in China are increasingly challenging international players. While Samsung has not confirmed a final decision, it stated that it routinely reviews its global operations in response to changing market conditions.
